What does holistic actually mean?
Holistic comes from the Greek word holos — meaning complete, entire, undivided. It has nothing to do with New Age philosophy. It simply means we care for you as a whole person — skin, body, and spirit together — not just the surface.
At Anaka Soma, holistic means we look at everything: your skin, your stress, your sleep, your nervous system, your life. Because skin does not exist in isolation. It communicates. It reflects what is happening inside. True skincare honors that connection.
What is somatic work?
Somatic simply means body. Somatic work is the practice of recognizing that our bodies hold what our minds and hearts carry. Stress, grief, trauma, and joy all live in the tissue — not just the mind. This is not a spiritual claim. It is biology.
I am currently completing advanced training in somatic work to bring this deeper level of care to my clients. This is part of an ongoing commitment to education — always learning, always growing, always bringing the best to the treatment room.
What is a Restorative Sound Session?
A Restorative Sound Session uses sound and vibration for deep relaxation and a profound sense of calm. Nothing more, nothing less. Sound and vibration have been used for rest, healing, and worship since the beginning of recorded history.
Scripture is full of it. David played the harp. The Psalms were sung aloud. Temple worship was filled with instruments. Sound is not new, and it is not dangerous. It is simply another tool for helping the body and mind come to rest.
I am currently completing my certification in this work. When it launches, it will be offered as an intentional, faith-rooted experience — grounded in the same values as every other service here.
Is this compatible with my faith?
That is a question worth asking, and I respect you for asking it.
I am a believer. My faith in Jesus is not separate from this work — it is the ground it stands on. Prayer is offered before every service for those who welcome it. Every ritual here is built with intention, care, and reverence for the body as something sacred.
I understand the hesitation. The enemy does counterfeit good things. That is exactly why I would never ask you to simply take my word for it.
Test it. Pray over it. Examine the fruit. I am not asking for blind trust — I am inviting discernment. Come as you are, with your questions and your faith intact. You are welcome here.
What if I don't share your beliefs?
You are equally welcome here.
Faith is part of who I am, and it informs the care and intention behind this work. But it is never imposed. Prayer is always optional — offered quietly, without pressure, and with complete respect for wherever you are. If you'd prefer a moment of silence, a simple affirmation, or to move straight into your session — just say the word. This is your space. Your beliefs, your background, and your journey are honored completely.
Anaka Soma is a space for self-discovery, skin health, and genuine rest. Whatever brings you here — you belong.
How do you stay current?
I have been a licensed holistic esthetician for nearly 13 years and have never stopped learning. Advanced certifications, specialized training, and ongoing education are a non-negotiable part of this practice.
Current training includes advanced somatic work and Restorative Sound Sessions — both of which will be offered at Anaka Soma upon certification. You can follow the journey on the blog as I document my training in real time.
You deserve a practitioner who grows with the field. That is a promise.
"You are not a problem to be solved. You are a whole person deserving of care that honors every part of you."
